The Story

Winter doesn't ask for permission. When the crowd thins out and the water drops, the ones still paddling out are the ones who came prepared. The Flashbomb 5mm Split Toe Boot is Rip Curl's answer to those sessions — the same Flash Lining construction that made the Flashbomb wetsuit line a cold-water reference, built for your feet. Split toe for board feel, 5mm for warmth, no zip to fail.

Details

  • Material: 80% Neoprene, 20% Polyamide.
  • Flash Lining (E5): Rip Curl's signature Flash Lining runs throughout the boot, with E5 flash lining tape on the seams — it insulates, wicks moisture and dries fast between sessions.
  • 5mm thickness: Built for genuinely cold water, when 3mm boots stop cutting it.
  • Split toe design: Separated big toe locks the boot onto your foot and keeps you connected to the board.
  • 0.6mm thin rubber sole: Super thin sole with a textured grip print — traction and board feel without the bulk.
  • Entry system: Easy slide-on system, no zip. Ankle and foot straps lock the fit down.
  • Seam sealing: Sealed seams keep the flush out.
  • Anti-stink treatment: Treated so your boots stay wearable all season.

Fit

Wetsuit boots should fit snug everywhere — no air pockets at the heel, no gap at the ankle. If you're between two sizes, go with the closer fit: neoprene gives a little in the water, and a loose boot flushes cold. Available in sizes 6 to 13.

Shipping

Standard shipping from our Munich, Lisbon and Sagres stores. Orders ship within a few business days — you'll get tracking as soon as your boots are on the way.

FAQ

Are these boots good for winter surfing?
Yes — 5mm neoprene with Flash Lining throughout is made for cold-water sessions. Pair them with a 4/3mm or 5/3mm Flashbomb wetsuit for the full setup.

Why split toe instead of round toe?
The separated big toe stops your foot from sliding inside the boot and gives you direct board feel through the thin 0.6mm sole. Trade-off: they take a second more to pull on — the slide-on system and straps handle that.

How do I care for them?
Rinse in fresh water after every session and dry them out of direct sunlight, standing upright like you'd wear them. The anti-stink treatment helps, but rinsing is what keeps them going.
