The Story

Reef boots exist because of what sits under the waterline. Rip Curl built the Reefer as a warm-water, tropical surf boot: a low bootie with a neoprene and mesh upper and a reef protective sole, made so you can cross coral and rock without wrecking your soles — and without your feet overheating on the paddle out. At 1.5mm it is thin on purpose: protection where you need it, board feel everywhere else.

   Rip Curl positions the Reefer as a warm water/tropical boot. At 1.5mm it is not built for cold water — pair thicker boots with colder sessions.
3. Why split toe instead of a round toe?
   The separated big toe stops your foot from sliding around inside the boot and gives you direct board feel and grip on the deck — the trade-off is that the boot takes a session or two to feel natural between the toes.
4. Do they stretch or break in?
   Neoprene softens and moulds slightly over the first few sessions, so the boot should feel firm but not painful when new. A boot that feels roomy out of the box will only feel looser in the water.
5. How do I care for them?
   Rinse them in fresh water after every session and let them dry in the shade, away from direct heat. Keep them out of the washing machine and dryer — neoprene and outsoles do not tolerate either.
