The Story
The Hyperfreak Series is O'Neill's team-inspired wetsuit line, and the 3/2+ is its step-up: the same construction as the Hyperfreak Comp, plus 0.5mm of extra thickness for colder sessions. Everything is built around O'Neill's exclusive TechnoButter 3 and TB3X neoprene – now 20% lighter with 30% less water absorption – so the suit stays light in the water and dries faster between sessions.
Details
- Neoprene: Recycled TechnoButter 3 over the full body and legs, with liner fabrics containing 90% or more recycled fibers. Limestone-based neoprene with Aqua Alpha solvent-free lamination.
- Thickness: 3/2mm with 0.5mm extra material in key zones – the "+" stands for more warmth than the Hyperfreak Comp.
- Arms / shoulders: TechnoButter 3X, O'Neill's lightest, most stretchy neoprene, placed where paddling demands the most flex.
- Warmth: The 0.5mm extra thickness plus fully taped seams and a double superseal neck work together to hold warm water in and keep cold flushes out.
- Seams: Triple-glued and blindstitched, then fully taped with 0.5mm split-neoprene applied with water-based glue for a watertight, long-lasting seal.
- Entry: F.U.Z.E. (Front Upper Zip Entry) chest zip with a free-floating zipper panel and anti-flush 360° barrier with drain holes – easy entry, no back-zip flush.
- Panels: Super minimal seam design using larger panels and fewer seams, with zero seams in the underarm panels and strategic seamless paddle zones for unrestricted paddling.
- Durability: Krypto knee pads, 3D plasma lock bars and tapered cuffs with plasma wrist and ankle seals, plus an external key pocket with loop.

What water temperature is this suit made for?
O'Neill lists 12–17°C for this model. The 3/2mm thickness, fully taped seams and double superseal neck keep it comfortable in that range.
How does the F.U.Z.E. chest zip feel?
You step in through a front upper zip that closes like a second seal. It is easy to get into and blocks the flushing you get with a back-zip entry.
Will the suit feel stiff at first?
Like every new wetsuit it needs a session or two to break in. TechnoButter 3 and 3X are very soft from day one, so it loosens up quickly.
